Storm Drainage Master Plan
Consultation has concluded
The Storm Drainage Master Plan (SDMP) is a technical study undertaken by a consultant on behalf of the City once every five years. The plan plays a critical role in helping City staff understand how stormwater infrastructure functions on a city-wide scale and provides guidance on prioritizing and determining the scope of storm related capital projects.
The plan looks at the following items:
- Updating the city-wide storm drainage model
- Identifying areas which have flooding or surface pooling above city standards/guidelines and determining how to best manage them
- Reviewing the storm drainage design and construction standards
- Ensuring customers are receiving the appropriate level of service by supporting and enhancing growth and development
- Reviewing the impacts of previous drainage infrastructure improvements
- Ensuring fiscal responsibility by creating action plans to ensure priority items are addressed in a logical sequence and creating a framework for funds to be allocated to future projects as needed
- Providing recommendations for effective stormwater management in future development areas
