The City of Grande Prairie is developing a Climate Adaptation Plan (CAP) to better understand and prepare for the impacts of a changing climate on our community, infrastructure, and services.
About Climate Adaptation Plan Supported through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities' Green Municipal Fund – Local Leadership for Climate Adaptation (LLCA) grant, along with City funding, this initiative will identify local climate risks—such as extreme weather, flooding, drought, and temperature extremes—and prioritize practical, cost-effective actions to reduce vulnerability and support informed decision-making across all City operations. The CAP builds on existing work across departments, bringing it into a coordinated, risk-based framework that helps protect residents, maintain service levels, and position the City to access future funding opportunities that support climate resilience and sustainable growth.
