The City of Grande Prairie’s Inclusive and Caring Community Initiative (GPICC) will focus on building community capacity to attract and retain newcomers, educate employers, and enhance service provider knowledge. This initiative aims to create a welcoming and inclusive community where the voices of everyone are heard, valued, and understood.

The City will lead GPICC and aims to maximize the collective strength of local stakeholders to address the community's needs. Employers, service providers, ethnocultural organizations, and all community members have a role in filling labor gaps, stimulating the economy, and fostering a sustainable ecosystem that places Grande Prairie at the forefront of being an exemplary place to live, work, play, and do business

Local organizations and employers are invited to participate in upcoming workshops to provide their input and share their experiences. The engagement will be facilitated by consultants from Urban Matters on behalf of the City of Grande Prairie.

Questions may include:

  • Can you share any successful experiences or challenges you've encountered in terms of helping newcomers find employment and integrate into the community?
  • How can employers and service providers help newcomers develop the necessary skills and qualifications to thrive in the local job market and community?

Workshops

Workshops will be held for both employers and service providers. While we appreciate the diverse community, we kindly advise immigrants not to register for this workshop, as the focus is specifically tailored for employers, service organizations and ethnocultural organizations. We want to ensure that participants align with the intended audience for an optimal learning experience. Thank you for your understanding.
