Grande Prairie Accessible Transit (GPAT) is a flexible door-to-door transit service that supports people with permanent or temporary disabilities that prevents them from using fixed-route transit without assistance from another person. This service is available to all city and county residents who live within 5km of city limits.

How is this service different than the regular bus service?

All of our accessible transit buses contain wheelchair lifts to accommodate passengers with special mobility needs.

There are four types of accessible transit services offered:

  • GPAT for registered clients
  • Fixed route conventional bus (large bus)
  • Fixed route community bus (small bus)
  • On-demand service

How does it work?

The first step in becoming a GPAT client is by filling out and submitting the Accessible Transit Application Form to the GPAT office for approval. Once approved, passengers may review the bus fares and select the option most suitable for them.

GPAT then picks up passengers at their accessible door and drops them off at the accessible door of their destination. Passengers may also travel with a personal care attendant for no extra cost if they require extra assistance. Residents can register online here or visit either City Hall or City Service Centre to fill out the application form.
